Meet the Test Subjects

I've stated elsewhere that I can work with just about any kind of picture. In order to demonstrate this, I've deliberately chosen a range of images to use as my test subjects when presenting off-the-peg portrait types. Meet the test subjects below.

 Shades

This is a shot taken by a professional photographer called Thomas Leuthard, whose work can be found on Flickr here. Here's the photo in it's original setting. Thomas has been kind enough to put this image up under a creative commons licence. I found his work on Flickr, I've never met the guy, but he takes extremely good photos, go check out his site!

From my perspective,of using this image as a starting point, I can note that the image quality is good, composition and posture say a lot about the subject's attitude, and the fact that we can't see her eyes adds interesting challenges.

Cat

.
I included a cat because I like cats, and I want to show that my service can be used for pets as well as people. This is a poor quality grainy image taken with a camera phone, that is somewhat rescued by an interesting composition and bold outlines.

Important-looking Dude

No idea who this guy is, but he looks like he's out to make his mark on the world. Good luck to you fella, whoever you are, hope to see you in the news one day!

This is a good, classic studio portrait, giving a clear view of the subject's face, and some nice bold shapes in the suit and flag in the background to add interest.

Classical Geek

I don't want to be too hard on this guy, grinning insanely into the webcam with the flash shining unappealingly off his forehead and teeth, eyes glittering with that sad, mad "let's talk javascript" look. But really, this image needs a bit of love and attention before letting it lose on the social internet. I include it in this collection precisely to show you that i can work with anything!

DISCLAIMER: Yes, it's me - I wouldn't be that rude about anyone else. So no rude comments about my lovely portrait, or I'll talk javacript at you!
